"Egg Monster" by Bosch

Three dimensional sculpture of the "Egg Monster", one of numerous unusual characters that appear in "The Last Judgment", painted by early Renaissance artist Hieronymus Bosch (1450-1516).  One of three large triptychs painted by Bosch during his lifetime,  "The Last Judgment" follows the customary triptych tradition, meant to be viewed from left to right.  The "Egg Monster" is found in the center panel (see photo, below).

Considered to be a forerunner of surrealism and inspiring artists across the centuries, from Brueghel to Dali, Bosch continues to fascinate historians and art lovers alike.  Studio artists in Bosch's Netherlands birthplace, s'Hertogenbosch, hand-paint molded resin forms to produce incredibly detailed three dimensional renderings of the fantastical figures found in "The Last Judgment".

"Egg Monster" appears in the center panel, an unfortunate bystander of the busy work of processing sinners for Judgment Day.

Figures that have long been a source of fascination have been lifted from the painted surface and transformed into 3D objects for our close inspection.  Perfect for placement on a desk or shelf, this small sculpture will make an ideal gift for anyone interested in Renaissance Art or Modern Surrealism.
