J-Yacht Ranger 1937

Built for Harold S. Vanderbilt in 1937 by Maine's Bath Iron Works, notable boat builders since 1884.  The yacht was built to defend the America's Cup that year.  The "Ranger" did not disappoint and the America's Cup was successfully defended.  Designed by W. Starling Burgess and Olin J. Stephens of Sparkman & Stephens.  The "Ranger" measured 128 gross tons with an overall length of 135 feet, her spinnaker sail is said to be the largest sail ever made.  This replica J-Yacht "Ranger" features a beautiful antique finish in the original red and white, plank-on-frame construction, hand sewn sails and brass fittings.  Part of a collectable A-Cup series that includes a certificate of authenticity.  Ideal gift for sailing enthusiasts and collectors.
