Friendship Sloop

Friendship sloops were first built in Friendship, Maine during the late 1800's.  Initially used as lobster boats, the Friendship sloop is believed to have evolved from the Muscongus Bay Sloop, designed to be a more rugged vessel.  Extremely stable with great carrying capacity, Friendship sloops became so commonly used on the Maine Coast that they became known as the "pick-up truck of the sea".  Coveted by yachtsmen, the Friendship sloops are now valued for their beauty, sail handling and stability.  This replica yacht features beautiful French finishes, plank-on-frame construction, hand sewn sails and brass fittings.  Large size and intricate details add to this replica's impressive display.  Ideal gift for sailing enthusiasts and collectors.
